De technologie kan worden gecombineerd met vooraf gecontroleerde coagulatie en flocculatie om een hoge bezinkingsprestatie te bereiken.<br \/>\nHet te behandelen water wordt aan de onderzijde in de lamellenplaten gevoerd. Terwijl het voedingswater naar de bovenkant van de TPS tussen de platen stroomt, bezinkt het slib op de platen, glijdt naar beneden en komt onderaan de module vrij. De optimale configuratie wordt bepaald op basis van het debiet van de toevoer, de concentratie en dichtheid van de vaste stoffen, het bezinkingsdebiet, het slibvolume en de vereiste effluentkwaliteit. Een vragenlijst voor de toepassing kan nuttig zijn voor het ontwerp.
