Er zijn toepassingen in afvalwaterbehandeling, oppervlaktewaterbehandeling, bypassfiltratie van koelwater, grondwaterbehandeling en waswaterbehandeling. Met deze uitvoeringsvorm wordt een groot bezinkingsoppervlak gecre\u00eberd op een kleine voetafdruk. De maaswijdte van de discs kan zo worden gekozen dat het juiste verwijderingsrendement wordt bereikt en de hydraulische capaciteit optimaal wordt benut.
