Biological denitrification

Biological denitrification

Biological denitrification is used to reduce total nitrogen in both water and waste water. In tertiary waste water applications biological continuous sand filters are used to reduce nitrate nitrogen to levels of 1 – 3 ppm.

Biological nitrification

Continuous biofiltration shows to be very reliable for hosting aerated biological processes. A thin biofilm on top of the sand grains is developed within the bioreactor, enabling a stable nitrifying population under varying process conditions.

Teamwork

Phosphorus removal

Phosphorus removal is typically applied in tertiary waste water applications to meet more stringent consent levels for total phosphorus for effluent discharge. Also the technology is effectively applied for water reuse.

Cooling water bypass treatment

Open circulating cooling water systems may be optimized by bypass filtration. The bypass filter treats a small part of the warm water flow returning from the production processes. Bypass filtration is typically handling 1 to 10% of the recirculating flow.

Wash water treatment

Backwash water generated in drinking and process water treatment is effectively treated in a compact wash water treatment scheme, producing a water quality which may be reused in the main production process and a residual concentrated sludge flow.

Groundwater treatment

Treatment is focusing upon a combination of efficient aeration and continuous (bio)filtration. Main components to be removed are iron, manganese and ammonia. Both physical-chemical and biological processes are applied to meet drinking water quality levels.

Surface water treatment plant

Surface water treatment

Efficient treatment processes are available to remove turbidity, solids and/or colour, to produce both process and drinking water. Coagulation – flocculation – lamella settling, direct filtration, disc and cloth filtration are applied.

Aromatic carbon removal

At soil remediation and drainages ground water may be contaminated with mono and polycyclic hydrocarbons. Aerated biological continuous sand filtration is effectively applied to remove these components to levels, which makes it possible to safely discharge treated water.

Water reuse

Taylor made water reuse solutions are implemented for both process water reuse and to refill surface water and ground water bodies. Environmental sustainable solutions require a highly efficient waste water treatment process and additional advanced treatment processes.

Micropollutant removal

Removal of micropollutants

Micropollutants, e.g. medicine residues, but also a variety of other components in waste water, is effectively treated by continuously operated granular activated carbon filters, in combination with a sophisticated monitoring and control system.
